This is a listing for a 0.6 mm ultra fine swivel head ball handle vise pin quilling needle with two replacement tips (three tips total. One that will be pre-installed on the vise pin and two inside a protective metal container). This product is an interchangeable vise pin system. The quilling needle tip is held by the vise pin which allows the tip to be replaced should it be damaged or broken. The needle is made of stainless steel. The vise pin is made of a combination of wood and steel.
The handle system in this product is a swivel head style. The wooden ball handle allows for a comfortable grip in your the palm of your hands while allowing your fingers to rotate the head. Swivel-Headed quilling needles are advantageous to quillers who have limited mobility in their fingers and wrists. It provides an alternative to people who otherwise would not be able to quill. It can also be used by those who simply prefer a swivel-headed quilling needle.
The ultra fine quilling needle is useful for projects where a barely visible hole in your tight coil is desired. It also produces tighter loose coils in comparison to other needles . Please refer to the picture for a comparison of the holes left in a tight coil when using a medium, fine, ultra fine needle.
As the diameter of the needle is very small it will break if stored improperly. Always make sure to put the needle away in the specially made carrying container included with the needle.
The recommended technique when quilling with this needle is to leave a little tail at the end of the needle and applying light pressure to the tip for the first few rotations to start the coil.
In the quilling needle comparison picture, the top needle is the 0.6 mm ultra fine tip. The quilling needle in the middle is the 0.8 mm fine tip. The bottom quilling needle is our standard 1.3 mm medium tip. The vise pin that is opened and closed by hand is the blue colored one on the top. The vise pin that is opened using a wrench is the middle one. The needle on the bottom is not a vise pin system and the tip cannot be exchanged. Please see our other listings if you wish to purchase the 0.8 mm fine tip or 1.3 mm standard tip.
